Due to support from its loyal users and the success of the donation, SKOUT decided to do something similar this year. On March 14, in celebration of National Potato Chip Day, SKOUT took incentive from its millions of users around the globe and made another large financial contribution to the SF-Marin Foodbank, only this time, they doubled the donation. They provided enough for 20,000 meals to be provided for needy individuals and families.

SKOUT is a technology company based in the San Francisco area. The company was started in 2007 by Christian Wiklund and Niklas Lindstrom as a way to help people make easier social and business connections using their mobile devices. This type of technology was quite ahead of its time nine years ago. The pair kept a close watch on their statistical data and noticed that the overwhelming majority of its users, 80% to be exact, where making love connections rather than business communications. Wiklund and Lindstrom kept the idea of helping people make connections but relaunched in 2009 with a different format more suitable for its users in the form of a dating app. They release their iOS version that same year and the Android version the following year in August.

They became an Andreessen Horowitz company in 2012 for a venture capital investment of $22 million which helped them to take off and grow even more. SKOUT continues to grow and expand with new features to its app and the acquisition of companies like Nixter.

The SKOUT app can be accessed in 16 different languages and in over 180 different countries and in 2015 SKOUT announced that it had reached 10 million members, making it the largest social media app of its kind in the world. It is wonderful to see that even with all this success, the company still takes time and gives back to the local community. The company even encourages members and employees to get involved as well.
